Star Trek
The fourth Kelvin Universe Movie is still in the planning stages. Star Karl Urban, in an interview with Radio X says that he knows that Parmout is still working on it, bt that details on when filming might start are not yet set saying quote "I have heard that it is happening, but I've been hearing that for the last three years," Urban says (via Trek Movie). "All I know is they are developing it, they're writing a script, and I know one hundred percent that we all want to come back and do it. So I think it's all just a matter of logistics and timing at this point." unquote The movie is still scheduled to be out just before Christmas 2023.
On tv news, Picard’s third season will have a lot of familiar characters with the cast of The NExt Generation on board, but who or what will they be facing? SOmething familiar or something new? Showruner Terry Matalas knows and he provided some clues via tweet answering a fan tweet quote "It is a new character. Played by someone you've seen a million times before. Someone I've always wanted to work with. And… wow. You're not ready." unquote He further clarified that it’s an actor that has never been in Star Trek.
The Destination Star Trek con has been officially canceled, the convention producer Massive Events has announced that it has decided just to run one big con this year, Destination Star Trek Germany on September 23 to the 25 in Dortmund Germany. Currently, the German event has announced 18 celebrity guests including a cast reunion for Star Trek: Voyager. More info can be found at destinationstartrekgermany.com. THere has been no announcement on if a return to London in 2023 will be held. However the London Film and Comicon, being held on July 8 to the 10th will include a special tribute to the franchise.
The next official Star Trek con in the US will be Star Trek: Mission Seattle at the end of May 2023.
The Trill species will be the next spotlighted aliens in IDW’s Alien Spotlight series of one shots. August's Star Trek Trill will be written by Jody Houser with artist Hendry Prasteya and will follow a young former Trill Symbiont Initiate who has turned to research. Here’s the blurb quote : Someone is following Vanah, a research student and ex-applicant to the Trill Symbiont Initiate Program, after a life-changing event on a joint Trill-Federation science expedition. Paramount’s Star Trek Franchise Group is taking Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan on the road for its fortieth anniversary. The so-called Summer of Sweet Revenge is a cross-country promotion that sees Star Trek teaming with various brands to celebrate The Wrath of Khan's birthday. Paramount's plans include pop-ups in New York City, Los Angeles, and at San Diego Comic-Con, screenings of the film, and activations in select cities. Fans can find more information at WrathOfPKhan.com, the specially curated online hub that hosts details on the activations, digital engagements, and more.

Star Wars Celebration is going to London’s ECel Exhibition Centre in 2023. Star Wars Europe IV will take place from April seventh to the 10th, 2023. And speaking of Celebration, we have a bit of news that came from this year's event.
The showrunner for Star Wars Andor sys the the series will make you change the way you look at legacy characters Tony Gilroy told Vanity Fair quote "There are certain events that happen in these five years that are important and need to be paid attention to. There are certain people, characters that are legacy characters, that the audience, the passionate audience, really feels that they have an understanding of and know,``''In some cases they're right. And in some cases, what we're saying is, 'What you know, what you've been told, what's on Wookieepedia, what you've been telling each other ... is really all wrong." he added quote "It's upside down, or it's sideways, or it's the opposite of what you thought was true. Or it's way more interesting than you had ever thought. Or that's a lie and there's a reason for it. I would say that there's some surprises in store."They said also don’t expect K-2SO in season one. However it’s possible for the ALan Tudyk’s voiced droid to appear in season two , which will cover his life up to Rogue ONe.
The upcoming series The Acolyte will be a first for the Star Wars franchise as it will be set outside the Skywalker Saga. While it’s being kept under wraps for the most part, the same Vanity Fair issue that the last story came from, showrunner Leslye Headland said about the series quote "Jon Favreau said that when you're working in this world, you want to go back to what George was inspired by. There were Westerns and then of course, Akira Kurosawa samurai films, and the fact that he originally offered Obi-Wan Kenobi to Toshiro Mifune,``''So I actually went more toward martial arts films, and storylines that are a little bit more personal and less global and galactic,". "Those warriors were on missions that were deeply personal, with people feeling wronged and having to make it right. Wuxia Films and martial arts films from King Hu and the Shaw Brothers, like Come Drink With Me and Touch Of Zen. They're monks that are also martial arts heroes."
Liam Neeson is returning to Star Wars as Qui-Gon Jinn, but not exactly for Obi-Wan. At celebration. Qui-Gon will return in an anthology of animated shorts called Tales of the Jedi. The series is set to debut this fall and be made up of animated shorts spanning many years, including various characters across the Star Wars universe, from the aforementioned Jedi to Ahsoka Tano, Mace Windu, and beyond. Dave Filoni is one of the masterminds behind the series, with his ever-growing slate of Star Wars projects. The show will feature two different versions of the Jedi, the adult version voiced by Neeson and a younger version that will be voiced by Liam's son. The young Qui-Gon will appear alongside a younger Count Dooku.

The Ahsoka tv show will feature live action versions of some characters from Star Wars Rebels. A sizzle reel that was shown at Celebration revealed that Hera, Ezra and Sabine will appear. Casting was only confirmed for one of the characters though with actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo set to play Sabine. Natasha told the crowd quote “Sabine means so much to so many people. I have known that I would be playing Sabine for a year and I’m so relieved that I can openly fangirl with the rest of you,” unquote the show will feature Hayden Christensen also set to appear as Anakin Skywalker. Ivanna Sakhno and Mary Elizabeth Winstead will also star in the series in undisclosed roles with Ray Stevenson set to appear as villainous admiral, but not Grand Admiral Thrawn.
The High Republic is getting another round of Marvel comic book series, Marvel Comics announced the second Star Wars: The High Republic ongoing series and Star Wars: The High Republic – The Blade limited series. Like the rest of The High Republic Phase II, Marvel's upcoming The High Republic stories take place 150 years before those stories, during the age of exploration. The new stories feature fan-favorite returning creators and the history of a breakout character from The High Republic novels.
The new High Republic series from writer Cavan Scott with art and cover by Ario Anindito will focus on Jedha, a planet once sacred to the Jedi . After the fall of the Republic, the system fell to Imperial occupation. Eventually, it served as a testing site for the newly-constructed Death Star. However, 350 years before the Skywalker saga begins, Jedha is strongly connected to the Force and a holy site for every widespread faith in the galaxy. Jedi Vildar Mac leads the series after arriving on Jedha and finding its tenuous peace in jeopardy as a new threat reveals itself. Star Wars The High Republic The Blade is written by Charles Soule with art by Marco Castiello and cover by Guiseppe Camuncoli and Frank Martin.he four-issue miniseries revealing the history of Porter Engle. Engle is a cook on a Jedi outpost during The High Republic's first phase, but 150 years earlier, he's known as the Blade of Bardot
Lego Star Wars is going on Summer Vacation. Announced at Celebration was LEGO Star Wars: Summer Vacation, an original summer-themed special headed to the service. Additionally, the streaming service unveiled the first poster for the special, as well as its release date of Friday, August 5th. Summer Vacation will take place after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and will see Rose, Rey, Finn, Poe, and Chewbacca taking a vacation after defeating Emperor Palpatine. They'll discover throughout the special that a number of other Star Wars characters in history have also tried to take vacations... which hasn't always gone well for them. Returning characters for the special will include C-3PO, Lando, Boba Fett, Rey, Poe, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Rose, Jabba the Hutt, Anakin Skywalker, Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, Finn, Han Solo, Leia, and Palpatine, as well as Wick Cooper and Valeria from LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures. Additionally, Weird Al Yankovic will be cameoing, voicing a new character named Vic Vankoh.
Some directing news. Bryce Dallas Howard will be directing an episode of THe third season of The Madalorian, this will make her fourth venture into a galaxy far far away. Howard directed the season one episode “Sanctuary” and the season two episode “The Heiress.” She also helmed one of the standout episodes of last year’s The Book of Boba Fett, the Mando-centric episode, “Return of the Mandalorian.”
Also returning to directing will be Dave Filoni, who will be directing a “handful” of episodes of Ahsoka, a character that Filoni has a long history with. Ahsoka Tano first appeared in the 2008 animated feature film, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which was directed by Filoni, who had spent several years developing her.

The second season of The Bad Batch will premiere on Disney Plus on September twenty eighth. The recent Bad Batch Season 2 trailer showed how the newly reformed Clone Force 99 (with young Omega finally coming into her own) are starting to go from being on the run from the newly-formed Empire to starting to become something of an early rebel cell.

The Johnny Depp and Amber Heard he said she said trial finished with Depp walking away the victor with the jury giving Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages in his defamation suit. The jury also awarded Heard $2 million in compensatory damages. Depp had sued Heard for 50 million after she wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post in 2018 in which she called herself a "public figure representing domestic abuse." Heard countersued Depp for $100 million.
Interestingly enough, the trial did end up producing some spoilers for Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom. Kathryn Arnold, a former Hollywood producer who now operates as an entertainment industry consultant, took the stand during the trial and talked about the initial drafts featured Heard’s Mera more prominently saying quote "When two actors do well in a romantic relationship, and you know, they get married or they're gonna have a baby, you want to follow that through," Arnold explained. "Part of what did well in Aquaman was not only the action sequences, but to have a strong female character having a relationship with a strong male character, it's very empowering. So that was working for them in the first place. The poster of Aquaman that went around the world, one of the main posters, was of the two of them together standing proud and strong, being that couple. And so naturally, as you go and develop scripts in the industry, you want to follow on the things that are working. And according to Ms. Heard, when she read the first script for Aquaman 2, she had a strong romantic arc [in] the entire film, and she also got to some great action sequences at the end of that storyline in that script. She was featured predominantly throughout the script of Aquaman 2 when she first read it."
"She didn't hear anything," Arnold said of subsequent changes that were made to the film. "She wasn't getting the scripts when her colleagues were getting the scripts. She heard that through her agents. And then when she got the script, it was pared down from the first script dramatically. They had her in the hospital very shortly in the first part of the movie, called Act One. They had her in the hospital, and they pretty much had her in the hospital, and then she was going to do this action sequence in the end. She trained five hours a day for several months for the trainer to do this big action sequence. And then when she got to see, two things happened. One, the costume designer said 'I don't know what happened to your role. It got diminished.' And more importantly, this big action sequence that she was going to do at the end of the movie and the third act was cut out. They took it away from her. So it was radically reduced from what it was in the script, and what she even trained for, while she was preparing for the movie." "I believe that in the first act of the movie, she was injured somehow, or had something to do with the baby," Arnold revealed. "I don't know exactly, I'm just going with what Ms. Heard told me about, that she ends up in the hospital early in this new Aquaman 2 movie, and doesn't really come out until the end, to kind of wrap things up. But all of the interactions with Momoa's [character], and certainly the action scenes, were taken out." unquote Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is currently set to be released in theaters on March 17, 2023.
Leslie JOnes will bring her voice to the cast of a new adult animated comedy series that’s in early development at Warner Bros Animation. Jones, who will voice the lead character of Plastic. According to an individual with knowledge of the project, the show will not be a female take on Plastic Man. Plot details for the show are being kept under wraps and there is no writer or network yet. But Jones will executive produce.
The directors of the Batgirl movie have confirmed Michael Keaton will be Batman in the HBO Max movie. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah got asked about the legend's return in an interview with Insider. Though the duo are promoting Ms. Marvel, a lot of fans want to know about the DC Comics movie. Well, El Arbi and Fallah had quite the response when asked about Keaton's role. "Can we say anything?" El Arbi smiled before Fallah responded, "F*** yes. The O.G. Batman is in the movie." That seems pretty open and shut.
Do you feel like doing your own home production of The Batman? Well you can now, Warner Bros is releasing the Screenplay of the latest Batman movie in Hardcover this fall. Sony's Spider-Man spinoff Madame Web is adding Ghostbusters: Afterlife star Celeste O'Connor to its all-star cast. O'Connor portrayed the character Lucky in Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Deadline reports their role in Madame Web is not being disclosed at this time. O'Connor joins Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney in the S.J. Clarkson-directed film, which Sony's Motion Picture Group chairman Tom Rothman confirmed will begin filming "in the spring" for a 2023 release. Madame Web will come to theaters on July seventh, 2023.
Also joining the cast is The Serpent star Tahar Rahim is set to join Dakota Johnson in Madame Web.Best known for star-making roles in A Prophet and The Mauritanian, Rahim recently wrapped filming Ridley Scott’s Napoleon, in which he co-starred opposite Joaquin Phoenix. Last year, he earned rave reviews playing the title character in Netflix’s The Serpent, where he gave a chilling performance as serial killer Charles Sobraj.
Daybreak Games and Dimensional Ink, the makers of the MMO DC Universe Online have announced that their Marvel version…has been canceled. The game was never formally announced but was talked about in an investor presentation conducted by Enad Global 7. It's now been shuttered in a similarly subtle fashion with only a press release shared this week to confirmed that the project will no longer be worked on by Daybreak Games with resources instead diverted to other DC and Lord of the Rings games. DC Universe Online has been around since 2011.
Marvel’s Spiderman Remastered, which was a big hit for Playstations 4 and 5 will be coming to PC, this August according to Sony’s latest State of Play. The game will release on August 12th, 2022 on Steam and Epic Games Store. This new release will also include all three DLCs that were released in 2018. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered released in 2020 with Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and included a number of fancy upgrades to make it more optimized for PlayStation 5. It can be expected that this PC release will include all of those new additions along with new ones to help sell PC fans on the game. Insomniac Games confirmed that Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is also coming to PC this fall, but didn't provide a date.
I Am Groot has a release date. THe animated Disney Plus series will debut on the service on August tenth. The series is made up of shorts that see Baby Groot getting into and out of trouble in a world of photorealistic animation. Vin Diesel returns to voice Groot and Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is one of the show's executive producers.

The Disney Plus Percy Jackson series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians has added five new actors to the cast. Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally and Timm Sharp are all set to appear in recurring guest star roles in the small screen adaptation of the popular Rick Riordan book series. Mullally (“Will & Grace,” “Party Down,” “Children’s Hospital”) will play Alecto, a.k.a. Mrs. Dodds. Mrs. Dodds is Percy’s strict, irascible math teacher who may act monstrous at times, because she is. She’s one of the three Furies, known as Alecto, who loyally serves Hades, the god of the underworld. Mantzoukas (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “The League,” “The Good Place”) will play Dionysus, a.k.a. Mr. D. The irritable and sarcastic Mr. D runs Camp Half Blood, a camp for the demigods.
Kull (“Super Pumped,” “NOS4A2,” “Big Little Lies”) will appear as Sally Jackson, Percy’s loving, protective and selfless mother. Sally raised her son knowing that one day she’ll have to give him up to the dangerous world of the Olympian gods.
Turman (“Women of the Movement,” “The Wire,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”) will play Chiron, a.k.a Mr. Brunner. Disguised as Percy’s Latin teacher Mr. Brunner, Chiron is the famed centaur and trainer of heroes who provides Percy with moral guidance when needed.
Sharp (“Enlightened,” “Blunt Talk,” “On the Verge”) will play Gabe Ugliano, Sally’s selfish, brash, and combative husband as well as Percy’s stepfather. The live-action “Percy Jackson” show tells the fantastical tale of the titular 12-year-old modern demigod (Scobell), who’s just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With help from his friends Grover (Simhadri) and Annabeth (Jeffries), Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.
Samuel L JAckson has joined the cast of the animated Garfield movie, Sam will star alongside Chriss Pratt. The film comes from Alcon Entertainment and will be directed by Mark Dindal who did Chicken Little and the Emperor’s New Groove and is based on the comic strip > Mr. Jackson will be playing a new character, Garfield's father Vic. No release date yet.
The Addams Family Netflix series Wednesday will be out this fall according to promotional signage seen at the annual Licensing Expo. The series stars Jenna Ortega as an older Wednesday Addams at Nevermore Academy. where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore. The coming-of-age supernatural comedy also stars Academy Award-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago) as Addams Family matriarch Morticia Adams and Luis Guzmán (Code Black) as patriarch Gomez Adams, Isaac Ordonez (A Wrinkle in Time) as Pugsley, George Burcea (Comrade Detective) as Lurch, and Victor Dorobantu as Thing.
The writers of Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power are in it for the long haul. The series still hasn't debuted but already has a two-season commitment from Amazon. However, J.D. Payne tells Empire Magazine that their plans for the show go far beyond that. Five seasons of The Rings of Power are already meticulously planned out, including exactly how the show will end. "We even know what our final shot of the last episode is going to be," Payne says. "The rights that Amazon bought were for a 50-hour show. They knew from the beginning that was the size of the canvas – this was a big story with a clear beginning, middle and end. There are things in the first season that don't pay off until Season 5."
JJ Abrms is bringing Speed Racer to Apple Plus. Sources to the Hollywood FReporter Sources say Hiram Martinez (Snowpiercer, Get Shorty) is set to co-write the project and serve as showrunner as his “exciting take” on the source material is said to have impressed Apple, Bad Robot and Warners. Ron Fitzgerald (who works with Abrams on HBO’s Westworld), is the other co-writer and showrunner. Abrams and his Bad Robot banner are set to executive produce. Speed Racer, created by Tatsuo Yoshida, was adapted in the 1960s as a beloved anime series that ran for more than 50 episodes. An English remake, Speed Racer X, was produced for Nickelodeon in 2002 but a licensing debate stunted its run. The Wachowskis adapted the title as a live-action feature film in 2008. That movie, starring Emile Hirsch, stalled at the box office and wound up losing money for producers Warner Bros. Pictures.
As of December 2013, the worldwide rights to the beloved title about a professional racer reverted back to Tatsunoko Production following a string of lawsuits. Tatsunoko is believed to have blessed Apple’s Speed Racer take.
AEW’s Joe Seanoa a.k.a Samoa Joe is set to play the dual role of Sweet Tooth voiced by Will Arnett in Peacock’s Twisted Metal. Mike Mitchell (The Tomorrow War, Love), Tahj Vaughans (P-Valley), and Lou Beatty Jr. (A Million Little Things, NCIS) are set to recur.
Sweet Tooth is described as a hilarious and terrifying hulk of a man, who is as emotional as he is cunning. A lover of chaos, this majestic rage-filled killer dons an ever-smiling clown mask and uses “Lost Vegas” as his own personal kill-ground, all while he drives his infamous doomsday ice cream truck. The series based on the PlayStation video games is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
Westworld is coming back, it’s been two years since season three ended, and co-creator Lisa Joy has confirmed that Rachel Wood would be returning as a new character named Christina from a New York-type city and her character would be dating a character played by James Marsden.

The Beatles: Get Back
, the acclaimed mechanical effects expert who helped design, build and operate E.T. for the 1982 Steven Spielberg classic and worked on such other films as King Kong, Alien and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, has died. He was 76.
Raponi died Friday of congestive heart failure at a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles, a Disney publicist announced.
Raponi also created the various dinosaurs seen in Disney’s Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend (1985). The creatures in that film ranged from the title youngster (a human performer inside a rubber costume used a remote control to execute its expressions and movements) to a mechanically operated Brontosaurus that stood 70 feet long and 25 feet wide.
Raponi collaborated with Martin Scorsese on Gangs of New York (2002) and The Aviator (2004) and with Frank Darabont on The Green Mile (1999) and The Shawshank Redemption (1994) and handled effects and props for The Running Man (1987), The Hunt for Red October (1990), The Godfather: Part III (1990), Air Force One (1997), Dr. Doolittle (1998) and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), among many other films.
Raponi served as an apprentice to future Oscar-winning effects creator Carlo Rambaldi.
Raponi worked on producer Dino De Laurentiis’ 1976 remake of King Kong, on which Rambaldi received a special achievement award at the Oscars. He then helped Rambaldi win Academy Awards for Alien (1979) and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
Striking out on his own, Raponi found his way to the Walt Disney Studios in the late 1970s, and he provided mechanical effects for films including Tron (1982), Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983), My Science Project (1985), and Baby.
For the Disney adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s Something Wicked This Way Comes, Raponi constructed a series of mechanical stunt tarantulas to appear beside dozens of real creatures.
He retired in 2008 but came back for one last assignment on Ben Affleck’s Argo (2012).
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Nina, and his daughter, Tiziana. His son, Daniel, died in 2007.
